Safety at Roadravel
At Roadravel, safety is not a marketing line — it is the foundation of how we operate.
As a registered Booking Service Provider under the Commercial Passenger Vehicle Industry Act 2017 (Vic), Roadravel is a safety duty holder. We are required to operate a Safety Management System, maintain a register of safety risks, and report notifiable incidents to Safe Transport Victoria.
What we do
- Driver verification. Every Roadravel driver holds a current Victorian driver licence and current CPV driver accreditation, verified against the Safe Transport Victoria Public Register. We also keep a recent National Police Check and a signed Medical Fitness Declaration on file.
- Vehicle verification. Every Roadravel vehicle is registered as a Commercial Passenger Vehicle with Safe Transport Victoria, has a current annual CPV inspection, and is appropriately insured. We re-verify CPV registration on the Public Register on a monthly basis.
- Fatigue management. Maximum 12 hours on-duty in any 24-hour period, a 15-minute break after no more than 5 hours of continuous driving, and a minimum 10 consecutive hours of rest between shifts. A pre-shift self-assessment is completed before every shift.
- Zero blood-alcohol policy. Every driver self-tests with a personal breathalyser before each shift and records a zero reading. No illicit drugs at any time.
- Daily vehicle checks. Before the first booking of each day, the driver completes a 15-point pre-trip vehicle check covering lights, tyres, brakes, mirrors, seatbelts, safety equipment, and interior cleanliness.
- Emergency planning. Every vehicle carries a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, hi-vis vest, warning triangle and an emergency contact card. Drivers are briefed on response procedures for collision, medical emergency, breakdown, and bushfire.
- Bushfire and severe weather. Where a Code Red fire danger, severe storm, or flood warning is in place for a planned route, tours are cancelled, re-routed or rescheduled. We monitor VicEmergency and the Bureau of Meteorology before regional tours during fire season and severe weather.
Notifiable incident reporting
If an incident occurs that results in a serious injury, death, or attendance by a police officer or health professional, Roadravel reports the incident to Safe Transport Victoria within 10 business days. Records of every notifiable incident and our internal investigation are retained for at least 7 years.
